If You Camp In Blame And Complaining You’ll Never Grow
One of the big life lessons I’ve learned over the past two years has been about identity. Fighting against fear and insecurity has been a deep learning experience.
Who you are is your choice, not some act of fate or the result of what happens to you. Who you are is not just the way you were born.
Which might seem like an odd subject, but it’s a very important piece of the work we do to be successful in our lives.
As I’ve done a lot of research and connecting with people on this subject for my book Be Solid: How To Go Through Hell And Come Out Whole, the views of dealing with fear & loss come down to two camps.
The first camp says, “What happens to you is completely out of your control. It determines who you are.” External reasons and sources therefore become justifiable reasons for complaint, blame, anger and bitterness.
This group of people(let’s call them the first camp) point fingers of blame. They say that they’re not where they want to be, or don’t have what they want because of someone or something else.
The second camp stands in the opposite proverbial corner. They say that you decide who you are regardless of your situations, circumstances or experiences. When bad things happen to you it’s an opportunity to be stretched, learn…
