Wear Your Own Skin Instead Of Someone Else’s
Here’s a personal story you might relate to…
I stood in my closet trying to pick out something to wear. I was taking MyLove out on a date to the orchestra. We’d been planning this for a while and I wanted it to be special.
Over the years, I’ve collected a number of very uncommon and specialty dress shirts, jackets, and ties. Some are made of silk, rayon, and other fabrics that shine and have dazzling designs in the stitching. A few jackets are tailcoats that look like something from a movie.
I like standing out.
I like dressing in my own style that doesn’t resemble anyone else. I don’t do it to get attention. I do it because I like how it looks.
It’s MY style. I’m not interested in following trends or what other people wear. I’m me. And I’m proud of that.
As I tried to pick out which coat to wear, and what shirt looked best in it, I had a flashback to a point in time when I wanted to do my own thing with my fashion choices, but also felt embarrassed shopping for clothes….
I was probably sixteen years old. I’d driven to a Ross Dress For Less store to buy some pants and shoes. I liked that the clothes there were relatively cheap but that was not the main reason I was there on this day.
